Audiences say serve me and entertain me; 

Armies say Here I am, I will do what I can to help the cause.  

Audiences wait to be served;

Armies go to serve.  

Audiences think what’s in it for me;

Armies say what do my brothers and sisters need from me?

Audiences do things out of convenience;

Armies learn to suffer well.  

Ephesians 2:10 

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.

BECOME — Jesus changes ME, and WE intentionally follow Him

Biblical Transformation & Committed Discipleship

1. To be transformed you gotta be informed 

2 Timothy 3:16-17

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

RECIPE to ALL OF LIFE!  

The 4 ingredients to life:

Whats right, whats not right, how to get right, and how to stay right

2 Timothy 3:1 But know this: Hard times will come in the last days. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, demeaning, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good, 4 traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people.

BIBLICAL TRANSFORMATION CAN’T HAPPEN WITHOUT BIBLICAL INFORMATION, but INFORMATION ALONE WILL NOT TRANSFORM ANYONE!

HEAR

Find a regular rhythm(s) to be informed and equipped by the Bible (Input)

KNOW

God has a recipe for you life that is far superior to your flesh (Instruction)

LIVE

Find a way to put God’s word into action

When we commit to God’s Word, we are constructing a life of change according to Christ!

2. To be discipled, you gotta be willing for things to die. 

Romans 12:1-2

Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

BROTHERS AND SISTERS!

Discipleship is a Team Sport, it is a group project, and it’s a “rough” draft for all of life till we die.  

Discipleship is ALL of Life (areas) being Transformed for ALL of life (time). 

Discipleship is “FIGHTING THE FLESH”….always.

There is a lot of death that happens every week in our church…

Matthew 7:13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to DESTRUCTION, and there are many who go through it. 14 How narrow is the gate and DIFFICULT the road that leads to life, and few find it.

If the Flesh in us isn’t crucified everyday, then the life we now live is not for the Gospel - It’s selfish, sad, and selectively tied to us being God rather than Jesus.

Do I simply believe “in Jesus” or do I want to become like Jesus?
